About Parkside at Alexandria
Parkside at Alexandria is a mid-size condo community in Alexandria, VA. It offers quick access to I-395 and Seminary Rd.
The complex was constructed in the 1960s. It initially operated as rental apartments. In 2006 it was converted to condos after being refurbished. There are a total of 378 units.
Even though I-395 is very close by, road noise isn’t generally an issue. You do have a lot of helicopter traffic flying overhead daily though. Those V-22 Ospreys will make your windows rumble.
I often see ambulances and fire trucks speeding down Van Dorn, so this could also be a nuisance.
Details and Floorplans
You have a choice of several layouts, from one-bedroom, one-bath units, to three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath ones.
All three-bedroom and some two-bedroom units are townhome-style. This means the living/dining space is on the main level and the bedrooms are upstairs.
The one-bedroom units are usually below the two- and three-bedroom condos. So your bedroom could be below someone’s living room.
All units come with washer/dryer which you don’t always see with condos of this age.
The community is pet-friendly.
The only utilities included in the condo fee are water and sewer plus snow and trash removal. This is fairly standard.
Heating and hot water are all gas. And there is also gas cooking for the aspiring chefs out there.
All parking is unassigned on surface lots. There is some street parking along Van Dorn.
From what I hear, parking availability is an issue. If you come home later, you might have to park somewhere outside the community.
